隐喻意识对学习英语词汇起着积极作用,研究以Lynn Grant得出的口语中常用隐喻性习语为蓝本,调查其在大学生中的使用情况,并基于语料库统计分析,找出最常用的隐喻性英语习语;同时,通过问卷调查,了解学生对常用隐喻性英语习语的理解,并由此评估他们的隐喻意识。结果显示,大学生英语隐喻意识有待加强,提高其隐喻意识可以从熟识的习语入手。
Abstract:
Metaphor awareness has a positive influence on learning English vocabulary. Based on a criterion of metaphorical idioms from Lynn Grant’s spoken idiom lists, the present research tries to make a research on how Chinese university students use the English metaphorical idioms, and finds out the most frequently used idioms by a corpus search. Then the questionnaire research was conducted to assess Chinese university students’ understanding of these frequently used idioms and their metaphorical awareness was evaluated. The result indicates that Chinese EFL learners’ metaphorical awareness could be promoted from the idioms which they are familiar with.
