摘要:
二战以来，随着美国郊区化进程的不断加快，郊区的低密度蔓延在全美形成一种趋势。这导致了城市中心的衰落、不同人群分化隔离加重等一系列社会问题，新城市主义理论、实践运动在这样的社会背景下应运而生。如同所有的城市规划理论一样，新城市主义的产生亦有其深刻的社会背景，本文试图在梳理战后郊区蔓延进程的基础上，对新城市主义的缘起做一探析。
Abstract:
With the ever accelerating process of the suburbanization in United States after World War II, the low-density extension of suburbs became a tendency, which led to a series of social problems, like the decline of city center and the increasing differentiation and isolation of different group of people. It was under such social circumstances that the New Urbanism and its practical movement emerged. Like other urban planning theories, the emergence of the New Urbanism has its profound social background. This article intends to have an analysis of the origin of the New Urbanism based on the carding of the extension process of suburbs after World War II.
