Blocks are the place closest to children's life, so the child-friendly public space is esscence of block planning. Because of the largest urbanization that China is experiencing, the highly concentration of population in the city and the shortage of land resources, the compact planning patter would be the inevitable choice for the children friendly public space of block in China instead of the low density development model used in developed countries. This paper aims to study a mode to combine the basic values of urban public space(child-friendly)with the inevitable development approach(compact), which would meet the need of China's basic national policy of "saving land" and solve the contradiction of the large population with the relatively little land in China. In the limited space it could also satisfy at the most the use of the target population including children to give the expression of the basic values that the urban planning is for the benefit of the public welfare.
